An entertaining Thanksgiving Song!

What could be a more memorable song then Disney’s “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast – the movie. This song just wants to make you get up and sing, dance, and entertain – it is sort of an ode to entertaining guests. Whether it is the old cartoon version or the newer live action version – the performance of Be Our Guest is always fun and entertaining. Not to mention coming soon to Disneyland is the animatronic version/ride. And what a fun song to perform on Thanksgiving!

What a Showstopper

Along with the main title song “Beauty and the Beast”, “Be Our Guest” is one of those songs that everyone remembers from the movie Beauty and the Beast. It is also the one song that everyone starts humming and whistling after seeing the show!

I remember seeing the traveling Broadway Performance of Beauty and the Beast and it was spectacular. The actual performance of Be Our Guest was the showstopper of the show and it was performed with great zeal! They had all sorts of dancing going on and a spectacular firework and light display during the live performance. I gave the touring cast a good applause!

• “Be Our Guest” is a key song in the 1991 Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, used in a scene where the enchanted objects welcome Belle to a new home and hope for her to break the spell. They treat Belle to an elaborate dinner, with the finest culinary delights and unique entertainment.
• It’s sung by the characters Lumière and Mrs. Potts, performed in the film by Jerry Orbach and Angela Lansbury.
• Along with the other songs in the film, “Be Our Guest” was written by Howard Ashman (lyrics) and Alan Menken (music). They had previously teamed on Little Shop Of Horrors and The Little Mermaid. Sadly, Ashman died of AIDS in 1991 before Beauty And The Beast was released in theaters.
